Whilst touring France in the Easter holiday we had car trouble and pulled in to this small family campsite. It was pre season so the site was not yet open. Despite this the owners took us in and helped us whilst we arranged for our car to be fixed. We ended up staying there for two weeks in this iidilic location. There is a river running at the bottom of the site, a gorgeous fishing lake, tennis court and swimming pool. The pitch was large with 16 amp electric hook up, don't forget your European adapter! As always we used our own facilities whilst the owners were preparing for their season, they were busy retiling the gorgeous swimming pool. There are also three lovely Gites overlooking the lake. The owners are English but had a good knowledge of the local area as they have lived there for many years. We explored the local villages on bikes picking up fresh bread each morning from the local bakery. There are several supermarkets within 10 minutes drive. There were amazing places to visit nearby including St Emilion, and Brantome. We also spent some time on the river in the owners little boat going through the lovely countryside. If you are adventurous you can go through the locks and explore the villages further away. Despite the traumatic car problems, we had an amazing stay thanks to Karen, Ricky, Keith and Betty opening their site for us. We will definitely return to this lovely place in the future.

Date of Visit: August 2013 Reviewer: Pegasus2 This was our second stay at Pont de fournil we just love it. With it being a small CL type of campsite it suited us rather than the larger commercial sites. It had everything we wanted, a nice shower block with piping hot water, which were cleaned every day, unfortunately the odd camper did not wipe the shower cubicle out with mop and bucket provided by the owners. It had a utility room with sinks for preparing food and washing pots and also a fridge freezer which came in useful in the hot weather. In the corner of the room were information leaflets of places to visit, which was very handy. They were also a few books for you to read if you wanted to chill out. They were plenty of things for the children to do, swings, table tennis, tennis court, pedalo, rowing boat, canoe with life jackets all provided free of charge and a nice swimming pool which was a godsend in the high temperatures. There were many places to visit in the Dordogne, Bergerac, Brantome, Perigeaux, St Emillion, Bordeaux (use Tram Park and Ride so easy), last but not least Arcachon(dunes) absolutely stunning. Shopping is no trouble, there are two large supermarkets and a Lidl ten minutes drive and three minutes drive to the local village where there is a bread shop and a general store. We hope to go back again and meet two couples we made friends with who had invited us to a birthday party and a Sunday roast they were such lovely couples. The campsite has a road running along side which has the odd lorry or tractor and local traffic, we soon got use to it. We would certainly recommend this site to anyone. The owners were always there if you wanted any help but gave you plenty of space also. Thank you Karen, Ricky, Betty and Keith for a brilliant holiday.

We stayed at this beautiful site for 10 nights and had a thoroughly relaxing time. There are just 8 flat pitches, which are huge, (all with EHU) and plenty of grassy areas for the children to play, the lake, the river, the pool, great shower block, washing machine and campers' fridge. As other reviews have said, there's a pedallo and a rowing boat, plus life jackets - you just help yourself. We didn't fish so can't comment on that.

We're not into large commercial sites so this was just perfect for us. It was picturesque and peaceful. We met some lovely people here including the owners who made us feel so welcome.
We will definitely return to Le Pont de Fournil.

My husband and I visited this campsite after seeing the reviews and used it for a three day stop on-route to the south and on route for three nights on the way home.

It is stunning! Very peaceful, friendly and excellent facilities. Karen and her family were most welcoming and were there if we needed them. The caravan that was sighted next to out pitch came over and offered us a choice of alcoholic beverage or a typical cuppa Ha Ha Ha.

We rowed on the river, bounced on the large trampoline, fished and walked and had a thoroughly relaxing time before continuing out journey.

The toilets and showers were extremely clean as were the utility areas. The showers were the deluge type and very powerful. Fantastic in the cold and fantastic in the heat!

We have requested to book up again this July and were so impressed we are taking my parents down with their caravan. They can't wait either. I really hope they can fit us in.
Thank you to the Dalton Family for making your campsite such a huge success and so friendly!

Myself and my husband stayed here for 4 glorious weeks. The English owners are very friendly and there if you need them. The Showers were the best we have seen in France in the last 12 years. The site has very spacious pitches and is an ideal get away for couples - you can even take out the rowing boat.

For 2 weeks of our stay we had the site all to ourselves - absolutely brilliant. We highly recommend this place for anybody wanting to get away from it all. There was a fabulous little restaurant in the next village (Restaurant L'aubergbe - something like that) it was very cheap but the food and service was great. We also went on the site owners recommendation to another restaurant called The Lemon Tree - this cost about 80euros for the two of us for three courses and a nice bottle of wine. The service and food here was excellent but this is a little further to travel.

We will definitely be back - thank you for such a great stay.

Lovely little site right on the river.

We stayed for 5 nights (Early Sept 06) but were not that lucky with the weather. As a result the pool was a little cold, but on the sunny days and once you acclimatised it was lovely. However, it's a smallish site and being the end of season we had it to ourselves - fabulous.

The English owners were friendly and left us to our holiday encouraging us to use all their free facilities which include tennis court, rowing boat, canoe, peddle-o on the lake, trampoline and of course fishing.

The river is lovely and calm, I recommend you take the row boat out; life jackets and everything were available - free!

We'd definitely go back, it was so peaceful and relaxing. We could even be back this March as we're touring the region again.

We had a great time when we came here, we really didn't want to leave.

The owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel really welcome and it was so homely.

The showers and toilet block was the cleanest I have ever seen and were cleaned every day.

Other people that came to the site were lovely and friendly as were the locals.

We went to a local market which I highly recommend, that was on a wednesday, there were plenty of other plenty of lovely places to see and visit.

We can't wait to go back again, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
